Jesse Stone DVDs

On this Lübeck Haus Store's catalogue page are listed Jesse Stone DVDs and Amazon.com Instant Videos of Jesse Stone movies.
Tom Selleck plays the role of Jesse Stone, a former Los Angeles homicide detective who left California and his ex-wife to become the police chief in Paradise, a small New England village. The Jesse Stone films are based on books authored by Robert B. Parker. Jesse Stone is the depressed, alcoholic police chief of Paradise, a small Massachusetts seaside town. Innocents Lost is the latest and the seventh in the intermittent TV-movie series (an eighth, Benefit of the Doubt, which appeared in 2012) and the third that features an original Jesse Stone story (cowritten by Selleck) that is not directly based on a Parker novel. The characters, in these movies, have a lot of depth from the get-go, especially Selleck's Stone, who we quickly discover in Jesse Stone: No Remorse, has been forced out of his job as Paradise police chief and is not faring so well in the mental health department.
Halifax, Nova Scotia provides the picturesque rocky scenery of the fictional fishing village of Paradise, Massachusetts.
Jesse Stone DVD titles included are Innocents Lost, No Remorse, Night Passage, Thin Ice, Sea Change, and Stone Cold. Plus several titles are grouped in sets. And most can be seen on Amazon.com Instant Videos.

Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt (2012)

Tom Selleck's trademark rumpled charisma continues to pay huge dividends in this eighth adaptation of Robert Parker's mystery series, focusing on the beleaguered small-town police chief Jesse Stone.
Picking up where the previous installment Innocents Lost left off. Stone finds himself back in the game. Jesse Stone's involuntary retirement ends when the young sheriff who replaced him is blown up in the town police car. The loyal staffers who worked for Jesse have abandoned the department and Jesse must try to solve the case on his own. Selleck wrote this script with Michael Brandman.

Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (2011)

Tom Selleck returns as Paradise's anguished former Chief of Police, Jesse Stone, in his most gripping mystery yet. Cindy Van Aldan was like a daughter to Jesse. Now she's dead. Although all signs point to a suicidal drug overdose-a checkered history riddled with addiction, associations with homicidal mobsters and an involvement in prostitution-Jesse knows his friend better than that. This time it's personal, and Jesse will stop at nothing to avenge the lost innocence and subsequent death of the young girl he once mentored.

Jesse Stone: Thin Ice (2009)

This fifth made-for-television movie in the Stone series, Thin Ice is an apt title for an engrossings tory that finds a pair of investigations and Stone's relationship with Paradise's town council looking perilous. Wounded during a murderous attempt on Captain Healy (Stephen McHattie) of the Massachusetts State Police, Stone sets out to find the would-be killer against the wishes of Internal Affairs, the Paradise council, and Healy himself. Meanwhile, a woman (Camryn Manheim) whose newborn baby was stolen from her and presumed dead years ago appeals for help from a skeptical Stone. The chief's usual problems with alcohol and the breakup of his marriage continue to haunt him, too. But none of that lessens Stone's determination to follow his own moral code as he takes on his superiors' shady ethics, a would-be killer, and a possible kidnapper.
Tom Selleck is the show's co-writer and executive producer of this movie.

Jesse Stone: Sea Change (2008)

Tom Selleck's reliably appealing performance in the title role carries Jesse Stone: Sea Change, the fourth in the series of films based on Robert B. Parker's novels. Stone’s restlessness gets the best of him and he re-opens a 12-year-old cold file involving the murder of a bank teller. The inquiry reveals fresh clues and Stone soon finds himself busier than ever as the unsolved case leads to another centered around an alleged rape aboard a yacht during the town’s annual Race Week. One of the local girls accuses a visiting yachtsman, in town for Racing Week, of rape, an allegation that may or may not be true. the tourism-obsessed Paradise town council wants to sweep this one under the rug as swiftly as possible. Then there's a robbery-murder case dating back a dozen years or more, which Stone at first takes on simply so he'll have something to do but later becomes a good deal more complicated. Jesse Stone: Night Passage (2007)

Selleck is once again well cast as the rough-around-the-edges Stone, whose drinking problem gets him ejected from the Los Angeles police force; he soon finds himself the head lawman in a small New England fishing village, where his slow dissolution continues until a routine domestic disturbance case reveals connections to money laundering and murder, with several of the town's most affluent names as possible suspects. Selleck is well-matched by veteran scene stealer Saul Rubinek, and there's good work by Polly Shannon as a city attorney who becomes Stone's romantic interest, and Stephen Baldwin as an ill-tempered local.
